Perfect for the low budget 20 something looking for a great dinner with friends - the margaritas are the best I have ever had! |

Cactus Cantina? Austin Grill? why not McDonalds next door? Real Tex-Mex ain't the perfect mass market product you'll find at these crap houses - what you will find at Mixtec is real Tex Mex food you would find in Southern Texas or Mexico City - with all its faults. |

One of my favorite places. This place got me to eat tomatoes after shunning them for over 20 years. The food is great and cheap and you must check out the flan. |

This is no taco bell. If you are looking for a wide variety of mexican cuisine served by great people (seemingly mexican / central american owned), you will not be disappointed with Mixtec. It sits prominently in the heart of Adams Morgan, so you can't miss it's neon sign! The mole is amazing, and the menu selection is great! They let me try something if i didn't know what it was! It's a little cramped for space, but there are 2 rooms to help this; afterall it is in the middle of a happening area. I enjoyed everything about it. Pricing was something i expected, i feel i got what i paid for; a good meal (size and taste) for a fair price. All in all a great (and cozy) experience! |

Very good selection, listen to the staff (usually the owner!) for recommendations. The salsa is fresh and spicy. Very good desserts. Ask for the fried plantain. |

With so many great Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants in DC, Mixtec should be low on your list of places to visit. The beef and chicken tacos were bland. The food was not cheap -- $12 for three tacos and some boring, factory-made tortilla chips -- better food and deals can be had elsewhere. Ambiance was zero, and the dining area was uncomfortable. My silverware was dirty and I found a produce sticker (like you see at the grocery store) in the salsa. The only highlights were a tasty pork taco and the great service, which earned Mixtec two stars instead of one. Take your business to DC's Austin Grill or Cactus Cantina instead; you'll be happy you did. |
